By now, I'm sure that you have heard that our field trip was cancelled due to weather. This trip will not be rescheduled. All money collected from students and chaperones will be held and used towards our next trip to the Weinberg Center.

We are all disappointed by this turn of events but the students have handled the news well.

My e-mail address has finally been updated to reflect my new name! I can now be reached at [email protected].
As far as I know, any messages sent to [email protected] will be forwarded to the new e-mail address but I am not sure how long that will last.

Today, students were introduced to an educational social networking site called Edmodo. This is a secure site, similar to Facebook, that allows me to share online resources with students. It also provides students with a safe online forum where they can interact with each other. Students can also reach me at any point with homework questions or to share their own online resources! 

Student log-in information can be found in the front cover of the agenda. Ask your student to show you our site! 

We have been incredibly busy in fifth grade these first two weeks! We are all adjusting and getting settled into our new roles and routines. I have enjoyed getting to know the students and am looking forward to the rest of this year! 

Starting Today...
Fifth graders are changing classes for math. Check with your student to see who their math teacher will be this year. These groups are flexible and can be changed at any time but we put a great deal of thought into student placement. Please encourage your student to stay organized as we make this transition.

Next Week!
On Tuesday, September 18, the fifth grade will be taking a field trip to The Great Frederick Fair. Permission slips and money are due by Wednesday, September 12, 2012. We have limited space for chaperones. All interested parents will be entered into a drawing and selected at random.
